The College of Engineering was established in Dhi Qar University in 2003 on the site of the building of the Vocational Training Center for Electrical Industries in Dhi Qar. It contains only two departments: Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. After increasing the number of teaching staff from inside and outside Iraq in various engineering disciplines and increasing market need for other disciplines. Horizontal and vertical level.

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was opened in 2008 and then the Department of Biomedical Engineering in 2013 and the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering in 2014 to become more comprehensive and diversified in the field of scientific disciplines that serve the province and the country and according to the need of the market.

The college then moved to its new location in 2014 in the university city of Mostafawiya in Dhi Qar province.

As for the vertical expansion, the college introduced the master’s study in mechanical engineering in 2014 followed by the opening of the study of the higher diploma in mechanical engineering in 2017 and then opened the study of the master’s degree in civil engineering in 2018 to become a scientific and research center from which the students of science and radiation center distinguished on Governorate level and Iraq.
